Most travel guitars are easy to carry. Few are worth playing.

Built like an instrument, not a gadget.

Every Laika is built to one standard. These six decisions are why it feels like a real guitar in your hands.

  1. 01

    CNC-machined, then finished by hand

Bodies, necks and even the fret slots are cut on CNC, so fit and intonation are consistent. Oil finishes and fretwork are done by hand.

  2. 02

    One board per body

We sort through cubic metres of timber to find the right blanks and dry them to 8% moisture before the first cut.

  3. 03

Brass hardware from our own shop

No bought-in parts. Bridges, saddles and tuners are designed by Laika and machined on five-axis CNC, then aged.

  4. 04

    Pickups wound for your guitar

Every set is professionally hand-wound to the wood, shape and weight of the instrument.

  5. 05

    Balanced on a strap

No neck dive. Palm muting sits where your hand expects it. The body is small; the neck is not.

  6. 06

    Direct line to the maker

Since 2014 every Laika has been sold by the workshop. You get build photos, and a person to message after delivery.

Musician playing a Laika travel guitar on stage

Made for carry-on life.

Flying, rehearsing, recording, playing concerts, or practising in a hotel room: a Laika travels easily and still feels serious in your hands. Plug in on stage and it holds its own as a gigging instrument. Pair it with a headphone amp and you have a silent full-scale rig that fits in a backpack.

The honest comparison.

Questions serious players ask.

Do you ship to the USA?

Yes, and shipping to the USA is included in the price. Every guitar ships tracked and insured, packed in a rigid, foam-lined box.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes, we ship to the USA, Canada, EU, UK, Australia and most other countries. If you are unsure about your destination, message us and we will confirm before you order.

How long does production take?

Most custom Laika guitars are built in 3 to 5 weeks after full payment. International delivery usually takes about 4 weeks depending on destination, customs and carrier conditions. (Full-size K696 models take longer, see the model page.)

Does a Laika fit in airline overhead bins?

Laika travel guitars are about 75 cm (29.5") long and 22 cm (8.7") wide, designed to travel as carry-on and fit most overhead bins. Airline policies vary, so we recommend checking your carrier's carry-on dimensions before flying.

Is it full scale?

Yes. Most Laika guitars use a 25" scale with 22 to 24 frets and standard fret spacing, the body is compact, not the neck. Basses use a 30" scale; the Laika 7 and Boden models are multiscale. Exact scale length is listed on every model page.

What case is included?

Most models ship with a padded gig bag. A hard case is available on request.
